ONLINE VITAL RECORDS ORDERING
here

The office of the Town Clerk is the repository for all town records. Land records beginning January 15, 1962 can be obtained here - land records. All our maps are now part of the online land records effective 12/1/21. The index to documents can be viewed free of charge. Documents can be downloaded and printed for $1.50 per page.  PLEASE NOTE - IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH DOWNLOADING A PURCHASED LAND RECORD OR RESETTING A PASSWORD, ETC, PLEASE CLICK THE BLUE "HELP" BUTTON ON THE LAND RECORDS LOGIN PAGE FOR THE TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT. THE TOWN CLERK CANNOT ASSIST YOU WITH TECHNICAL ISSUES.

All land records filed since 1857 are available at Town Hall. In addition, the Town Clerk office registers and archives records pertaining to births, marriages, and deaths; agendas and minutes of town meetings and meetings of commissions and boards; survey maps of subdivisions and other real estate; and election results, among other documents. Most of these records may be viewed by the public and copied for a fee. The Town Clerk can help you find documents, but cannot search records for you.

In addition to overseeing town records, the Town Clerk performs many functions, including:

  • Issuing Marriage Licenses (APPOINTMENT REQUIRED)
  • Publishing Town legal notices
  • Election Administration
  • Certifying election and referendum results
  • Printing official election, primary and referendum material
  • Administering oaths to elected and appointed officials
  • Keeping a roster of local government officials and their terms
  • Recording Town Meetings
  • Posting notices, agendas, and minutes of town commissions, boards, and committees.
  • Collecting conveyance taxes on real estate sales
  • Overseeing the use of the Town Seal used on legal documents
  • Recording liquor licenses
  • Recording all notaries
  • Complying with state records retention regulations
  • Providing and maintaining a system of survey maps as prescribed by state law

The Town Clerk also issues dog licenses and transfer station permits. Transfer station permits expire at the end of October and can be obtained or renewed online. Dog licenses must be obtained in person or by mail, and require documentation. Forms are available on the resources section of this page. Forms are also available here for certified copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates. The Town Clerk can also provide notary services, at his or her discretion.

The Town Clerk is available for these services whenever Town Hall is open, but it is suggested that you phone or email for an appointment.
