Inland Wetlands Commission

The Inlands Wetlands and Watercourse Commission meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month, if there are applications pending or other business to conduct. 

The IWWC is responsible for reviewing applications for development that may impact a wetland or watercourse. The purpose of the Commission's regulations is to minimize or prevent disturbance and pollution of each town's inland wetlands and watercourses, including its bogs, swamps, and marshes, as well as its lakes, ponds, rivers and streams.

All development requiring a building permit, and any development that disturbs the soil, such as a swimming pool or septic system, is subject to IWWC review. The Wetlands Enforcement Officer can advise you on whether you need a permit for proposed activity. Please contact him or her before you start your project.
