Later this week, the governor will announce that people over 65 are now eligible for a Covid vaccine. The official start date is February 11, but Eastern Highlands Health District (EHHD) has been advised that effective immediately it is authorized to accept appointments for that age group. There are currently appointments available this Wednesday at a clinic at EO Smith High School. People over 65 can sign up for an appointment now.

You may only sign up for one of these appointments through the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS). To access that system, please go to https://dphsubmissions.ct.gov/onlinevaccine and fill out the online form. Once you have done that, you will receive an email from CDC with instructions on how to register. Once you have registered, you will be able to search for an appointment. Use ZIP code 06268 to see the appointments available at EO Smith, or any other clinic run by EHHD.

Clinics are also available at other locations, incluyding United Services in Norwich, through the VAMS site. Other providers, including Hartford Health, CVS, and Walgreens, are also available through separate appointment systems. To see the full range of local options, click here.

At this time, EHHD is the only provider that has notified the town that it is accepting appointments from people between 65 and 75. The others will be online soon, however, if they are not already.

Some people in town have agreed to provide help to those who need help navigating these systems.  In addition, the town is able, in certain cases, to register you at VAMS. If you are in need of assistance, please contact Town Hall at 860 456 7797 x 101, or email me at firstselectman@scotlandct.org
